Our Helping Hands volunteers offered their time and resources to help improve the school grounds. This offer was warmly welcomed by Kenmont Primary, and a plan was quickly put into action. On a bright and sunny day, a team of eager Helping Hands volunteers from Browne, along with a few team members from Thames Water, arrived at the school ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work. Our mission was to rejuvenate the school's corridors and green spaces, creating an inviting and vibrant environment for the students returning in September. Inside the school, the volunteers began by painting the walls of the corridors, breathing new life into the interior of the building.
The fresh coats of paint brightened the hallways, making them more welcoming for the students and staff. Outside, the team focused on transforming the neglected green area. Years of weed growth was painstakingly removed, revealing the potential of the space. The volunteers covered the old, derelict pond and planted seeds to transform the area into a lush grassy knoll. This new green space is designed to be a serene and inviting spot where students can relax and play. Despite the heat, the volunteers worked tirelessly throughout the day, driven by the desire to create a special space for the children. Our hard work paid off, and by the end of the day, the school grounds had been completely transformed.
“This work means a lot to me for many reasons. I went to this school as a child and have fond memories of the playground. I am now the caretaker of the school and being able to see this transformation take place gives me a feeling of pride."
Kenmont Primary School now boasts a beautiful, refreshed environment that the students can look forward to enjoying when they return in September.
