Browne recently partnered with Plastic Free Seaford to support a community beach clean, helping to remove litter from the coastline and contribute to ongoing environmental improvement efforts in the local area.

As part of our commitment to delivering positive social and environmental value alongside our projects, members of the Browne team joined volunteers from Plastic Free Seaford for a beach clean on one of the hottest days of the year. Despite temperatures exceeding 33°C, the team remained hard at work throughout the day, collecting litter and helping to improve the condition of the coastline.

Together, volunteers collected 6.3kg of litter, achieving an impressive 61% recycling rate. The materials gathered included plastics, cans, glass, metal and rope, much of which will be recycled or repurposed rather than sent to landfill.

The initiative highlighted the significant impact that small actions can have when communities work together towards a common goal. It also reinforced the importance of protecting coastal environments from pollution and preserving these spaces for local residents and visitors to enjoy.

Many of the items collected during the beach clean will be given a second life through Plastic Free Seaford's recycling and reuse programmes. Recovered materials are transformed into a range of useful products, including bird boxes and other community-focused projects. The charity also recycles and sells collected cans, helping to generate funding for its wider environmental initiatives across the local area.

Community engagement and environmental stewardship remain important aspects of Browne's approach to delivering social value. Through volunteering activities, local partnerships and sustainability-focused initiatives, we seek to create positive outcomes that extend beyond the infrastructure and construction projects we deliver.

We would like to thank everyone who took part for their enthusiasm and commitment, as well as Plastic Free Seaford for the valuable work they carry out throughout the year. The success of the event demonstrates how collaborative action can make a meaningful difference in protecting our shared environment and supporting local communities.
