Job Purpose
The Civils Supervisor oversees and coordinates civil reactive works, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with SHEQ regulations. The role involves supervising a team of workers, liaising with subcontractors, and ensuring that materials, resources, and labor are used effectively to deliver high-quality results.
Job Responsibilities
Site Supervision:
- Oversee day-to-day operations on reactive civil site, ensuring that work progresses according to plan.
- Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Coordinate the activities of workers, subcontractors, and equipment operators.
Project Management:
- Assist in planning and scheduling civils activities.
- Monitor project timelines and progress, identifying and addressing any potential delays.
- Ensure that materials and resources are available as needed and manage their efficient use.
Quality Control:
- Inspect work for compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
- Identify and resolve any issues or defects in civils work.
- Ensure that all completed work meets quality standards before sign-off.
Health and Safety:
- Enforce health and safety regulations on-site, ensuring that all workers adhere to safety protocols.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
- Report and investigate any incidents or accidents on-site, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Communication and Coordination:
- Serve as the main point of contact between the site workforce and Civils Manager.
- Liaise with the client, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that their requirements are met.
- Communicate effectively with team members, providing clear instructions and guidance.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of daily work activities, progress, and any issues encountered.
- Prepare and submit reports if required by the civils manager.
- Document and manage any changes to the job scope or schedule.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and motivate a team of workers, ensuring they perform efficiently and effectively.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to less experienced workers.
- Address and resolve any conflicts or issues within the team.
Cost Management:
- Monitor and manage on-site expenses.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
Scope & set up jobs:
- Contact customers to arrange access
- Contact customers if work date changes (non NRSWA jobs)
- Daily CSMS updates to Admin person
- Allocate job packs to gangs
- Order plant & materials for jobs through Plant/procurement supervisor
- Receive completed jobs from gangs
- Site audits
- Deliver TBT’s to gangs
- Deliver Team meetings to gangs
- Assist with customer queries
- Plan/book jobs with planning supervisor
- Update job list with planning supervisor
- Liaise with client/customer/local authority
- Ensure that sites are safe, work is correct & deal with any site issues
- Be part of the CEC or Escalations rota.
- Complete Site audits as per guidelines.
- Instruct team or complete TBT’s & send attendance sheet to SHEQ.
- Monitor the Temporary works and sign off as required
