Last week, Browne proudly supported the Enfield Town School’s Partnership Big Bang STEM Fair held at Chace Community School. This two-day event was a fantastic opportunity for Browne to engage with the local community and inspire over 300 young minds.
Day 1: Inspiring Young Scientists
On the first day, volunteers from Browne participated on a judging panel for a science fair featuring the innovative projects of Year 5 students from across Enfield. The theme for the projects was ‘time’, and the students demonstrated remarkable creativity and scientific understanding.
Four exceptional groups were awarded prizes for their outstanding projects, with one group taking first place, two groups sharing second place, and another securing third place. The volunteer judges from Browne were impressed by the students’ ingenuity and enthusiasm, and they had a wonderful time supporting and contributing to this inspiring event.
Day 2: Engaging Future Engineers
The second day saw Browne delivering the Thames Water Network Challenge, an engaging and educational activity for Year 7 to Year 10 students. The session focused on the role of civil engineers, the essential services Browne provides as a utilities contractor, and the intricacies of water supply throughout the city.
Browne’s Learning & Development Advisor, Sophia Bruce and Iain McPherson, Head of Customer, delivered a captivating interactive learning experience that the students and staff enjoyed. Browne’s team was delighted to see the students’ keen interest and curiosity about civil engineering and the critical infrastructure that supports their daily lives.
Looking Forward
Browne is committed to fostering a passion for STEM among young people and was thrilled to participate in the Big Bang STEM Fair once again. This annual event is a highlight for our team, and we look forward to continuing our support and inspiring the next generation of engineers and scientists.
Thank you to everyone involved, and we can’t wait to see what next year’s event will bring!
